Recently at a friend’s baby shower, we decorated wooden blocks for her new baby. It was so simple, yet enjoyable that I started wondering if there was a way to add a modern, geometric twist. With a little painter’s tape and paints, this was the result! Love that baby shower activities can be simple, modern and a sweet keepsake. Scroll down for directions on how to host your own DIY baby block decorating party 😀.
YOU’LL NEED:
- Wooden blocks like these
- Painter’s tape
- 3-4 paint colors
- Paint brushes
- Paper plates (to use as paint palettes)
- Optional:scissors to cut tape and water cups to wash brushes
DIRECTIONS:
01. Tape shapes onto block, sealing edges well
02. Paint!
03. Let dry, remove tape, and enjoy!
Tip: To create smaller lines with painter’s tape, fold the center of the tape before placing.
I think my favorite part of this baby shower activity was seeing how each gal made the block her own. I was nervous that, with such simple geometric shapes, block designs might turn out repetitive, but I was surprised to see how creative people were with them. You couldn’t really do it wrong, and they turned out so beautiful!
